VR Univ North update
In April, we launched a Univ’s first virtual reality app, allowing you to wander around Univ while sitting in your own home and even discover the 3D renderings of Univ North. The app has been downloaded 315 times with 235 downloads on the Apple App Store and 80 downloads on the Google Play Store.
Using the app you can rediscover locations such as the Hall, Chapel, and the Shelley Memorial. Then, you can immerse yourself in 3D renderings of the new development we are planning: University College, North Oxford.
Peter Dean (1954, English) discovered that he could use the app via his Victorian stereo viewer, which just happened to match the dimensions of his iPhone 11!
“In terms of the VR, my son and I both really enjoyed looking round, I think it is a fantastic resource – he wants to come to Univ now!” Emily Formby, (1986, History)
“Thank you so much to you and all the postgrads who put this together – it’s a great escape in these social distancing times and immediately brought back memories of happy days.” Miss Laurence Unger (2001, Modern Languages)
The Univ VR App is available both in the App Store and Google Play, so both IOS and Android users can download it. If you have an Apple device, please search for “Univ VR App” in the App Store. If you have an Android device, please follow this link to download the app.
