Univ North update April 2023

Progress continues as tree removals and tree protection measures across all areas of the site have been completed. Fencing is now in place, and modifications to the Banbury Road entrance to allow vehicles access have also been completed. Gate huts are in place and a pedestrian zone has been set up, and traffic movements on Banbury Road and Staverton Road are being fully managed by marshals.

All buildings set to be demolished have been cleared of existing materials and services made safe. Demolition of the old Fairfield House south and west extensions is complete, which will be followed by the foundation works for the new buildings.

At the Staverton Road side of the site, our contractor, SDC have removed low-level walls, vegetation has been cleared and temporary access roads and fencing for the new site areas installed.

About Univ North
The location of Univ’s visionary North Oxford development at Staverton Road has been a second home for students for nearly 50 years. The new Univ North development will offer the College’s community of staff, students and academics modern, energy-efficient, multi-functional buildings with up to 150 study bedspaces, gym, café, study, meeting and lecture spaces, as well as a 54-place nursery provision. The scheme will renovate existing buildings, rejuvenate heritage orchards, and offer beautifully landscaped gardens, together with accessible access routes and rooms. This continues Univ’s aim to provide the very best facilities for students, staff and academics.
