The Martlet issue 12
The Martlet issue 12 is now online. This issue introduces Baroness Valerie Amos as Univ’s 56th Master. The issue also highlights Univ’s role in the COVID-19 effort, gives updates on the Univ North development and explores the fascinating stories of OMs from across the centuries.
We discover some of the amazing Univites who have taken part in diverse efforts to counteract COVID-19, through research, hospitals and community organising. Dr Michael Marett-Crosby (1987, History) writes about his experience of trying to help the COVID-19 effort in Myanmar.
The magazine also includes features on how the Univ North development will create a sustainable and biodiverse environment at “Stavertonia” and the new nursery planned for Univ North. We celebrate 40 years of the American Friends of University College Oxford (AFUCO).
Annika Möslein (2019, DPhil Engineering), Ashton Scholar for Engineering, transports us into the dynamic world of particle accelerators, which she is using to learn how metal-organic frameworks can be used as carriers for anti-cancer drug molecules. Professor Peter Norreys, Univ Supernumerary Fellow in Physics, is interviewed about his groundbreaking work on nuclear power and its potential impact on climate change.
Plus, of course, Development news, announcements, music, sports and societies updates and the latest on digital Univ.
