Weimar Germany for SHVM
Old Members Trust Travel Grant Report – Fang Cao
The travel grant helped cover the full cost of my conference registration for the Society for Heart and Vascular Metabolism in Weimar Germany during the course of 3-6 September, 2017. This was the first international conference to present my work, entitled “Mitochondrial Creatine Kinase Overexpression in a murine model of Chronic Heart Failure”, which detailed my work during the first year and a half. My work involved testing a transgenic mouse line that over-expressed a cardiac protein in the heart, and the goal was to see whether higher levels of this protein was protective during chronic heart failure. The work will be included in an upcoming publication. It was very useful to have a poster at such a prestigious international conference, as I am hoping to finish my D. Phil within this year, and thus this has been very useful. I am very thankful to Univ for covering this cost and helping me significantly with my education.
