Lightweight success
Nick Ryan (2018, MMaths), Vice President of Oxford University Lightweight Rowing Club (OULRC), and Matthew Hudson (2019, Ancient & Modern History), OULRC President for 2021-22, achieved fourth place together in a lightweight pair boat on Day 3 of BUCS. Nick also got bronze in a single and silver in a 4.
Nick clinched bronze on the line in the Championship Lightweight 1x, just 0.7 seconds behind second place and the same margin ahead of fourth. Matt also rowed excellently, making the A final among very competitive opposition. Nick then joined the Championship Lightweight 4, only an hour after his 1x final, taking silver (pictured).
Both Nick and Matt were also in the lightweight men’s boats facing Cambridge in May, rowing between Queen Adelaide Bridge and Littleport. Nick was in the Blue boat while Matt stroked the Nephthys 2.
