Global Digital Civilization Conference
Professor Bill Roscoe, Senior Research Fellow in Computer Science and Director of University College Oxford Blockchain Research Center, delivered a speech at the Digital Civilization Conference launch. The event was held in Hainan Resort Software Community (RSC), south China’s Hainan Province.
Professor Roscoe founded the Global Digital Civilization Conference, which analyses how blockchain is implemented with society like data governance, data sharing, and privacy protections. He previously founded Chieftin lab (China-Europe FinTech Innovation). an international research and development centre dedicated to blockchain, together with his former student Bangdao Chen. The two of them then created a new UK company The Blockhouse Technology Ltd (TBTL), which sponsored the University College Oxford Blockchain Research Center.
The theme for the first Global Digital Civilization Conference is “trust-based digital governance”. It will take place in November 2020 in Hainan Province. Members of the conference include Oxford University, MIT, Zurich Institute of Technology, Luxembourg University, Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiaotong University.
