Professor Najib Rahman (1994, Medicine), Supernumerary Fellow in Medicine, was elected as Lead for the European Thoracic Society Oncology Assembly from September 2024 for three years. Professor Rahman has also been appointed as National Lead for Respiratory Research at the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Research Delivery Network (RDN). His group has been awarded £2.8million as a grant to investigate the most efficacious treatment for patients with infected fluid in the chest cavity (pleural infection), to conduct the world’s largest randomised treatment trial in this area.

Professor Rahman is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Oxford, Director of the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, Consultant Respiratory and Pleural Physician at the Oxford Centre for Respiratory Medicine and Tutor in Clinical Medicine at Univ.
