Dazzling Water exhibition

Landscape oil paintingNick Schlee (1952, English) has an exhibition of oil paintings and drawings, “Dazzling Water” from 5-9 September at Harvey and Woodd, Edinburgh.

Several years ago, a fire completely destroyed Nick Schlee’s studio and house. Fortunately, the flat he moved to is 40 metres from the edge of the fast-flowing river Pang where it joins the slow-moving Thames at Pangbourne. The meeting of the two rivers has made a dynamic new subject for the painter, especially when the bright sun hits the choppy water surface and dazzles the eye.

Older man wearing blue gingham shirt with black bow tie and red bracesNick Schlee has painted throughout his life. After he began working in business, he took evening classes at the Central School, Morely College with Laurence Toynbee, Putney Art School and The Slade. In 1989, he began painting full-time. Since then, he has had regular solo exhibitions in England including in London, Oxford and Edinburgh. His works are now in public collections including Liverpool University, The City of London Guildhall Gallery, Reading Museum & Art Gallery, Southampton City Art Gallery, and Gallery Oldham.

You can find out more about the exhibition at harveyandwoodd.com and more about Nick Schlee’s beautiful work at nickschlee.co.uk or view the catalogue.
