CEO Sleepout 2024
Once again members of the Colleges and the University are supporting the Oxfordshire Homeless Movement through the CEO Sleepout on World Homeless Day, 10 October 2024.
The University will be hosting the event this year at University Parks where I will be flying the flag for Univ and raising both awareness and money for the Oxfordshire Homeless Movement, a charity that the College supports both in its charitable giving and in employment opportunities for ex-offenders and previously homeless people. Back by popular demand and with great thanks to the Master for her permission for them to moonlight, the event will once again by supported by willing volunteers from Univ’s wonderful catering team, whose soup is now legendary across Oxford.
CEO Sleepout | Oxfordshire Homeless Movement
On the evening we will be joined again by those with lived experience of homelessness. Supporting us will be members of the University and Colleges and the business and commercial sector in Oxfordshire. We have had another successful year across the colleges in promoting social value, inclusive recruitment, opening opportunities for people who would not necessarily think that working in an Oxford College might be for someone with their background, having come from the streets or through the criminal justice system. Once again our own people have reached out to show the fine stuff of which they are made, with Shane Pledge representing the College and Callie Kanim the University at the Blackbird Leys Festival and others more widely in combatting rough sleeping, homelessness and very insecure housing.
Could I ask for your consideration in supporting the event, either by sleeping out and raising funds; or by supporting others who can sleep out on that night – me particularly!
Thank you in advance for your support; as ever I am grateful.
Yours,
Angela Unsworth
Domestic Bursar.
