Bye bye Bob’s bikes
As part of a continuous review into safety and security it has been decided to change the way bike security is managed at Univ.
The current College system, “Bob’s Bikes”, has its limitations – not least geographically – and will be phased out with no new registrations taken; the current database will remain in place, but be periodically reviewed in line with GDPR legislation.
Instead College recommends the nationally supported BikeRegister which is supported by all Police Forces and whose officers can make on the spot checks of bikes against the database. It is free to register your bike and for a small fee offers additional bike marking kits.
Benefits include:
- Lifetime registration on the BikeRegister database
- A registration Logbook, to be used as proof of ownership
- Secure online access to manage your account
As a general security reminder, always lock your bike up against an immovable object, fit lights for road safety but remove them when parked up and, when in Univ’s grounds, please leave your bike in one of the provided bike racks.
