Aspire organised a ground-breaking employers’ conference to tackle Oxford’s recruitment crisis on Wednesday 26 April. This event brought together leading employers including John Lewis, Midcounties Co-op and Sainsbury’s to discuss the benefits of recruiting from disadvantaged groups. There are thousands of people in Oxfordshire who want to work and could do so, given the right support. Aspire knows from experience how much people from disadvantaged backgrounds have to offer, and this conference was an exciting opportunity to inspire employers about more inclusive recruitment. The event was a great success, with inspirational talks from Darren Burns at Timpson, Land Securities and the Pret Foundation who could all showcase the benefits of inclusive recruitment.

Everyone attending was given a practical inclusive recruitment guide which was put together in partnership with Oxfordshire Community Foundation, the responsible business group Reciprocate and Allen Associates. Aspire was delighted to be able to put on this first-of-its-kind event for Oxfordshire as part of Responsible Business Week 2017.
