Archives’ milestone
In Univ’s archives, our Archivist, Dr Robin Darwall-Smith (1982, Classics) has chalked up something of a personal milestone. When he started work in the archives back in July 1993, among the challenges he faced were some large and complex collections of papers relating to the estates which Univ has owned in times past. He has now catalogued every one of those collections, so that a major section of our archives is now much more accessible for researchers.
The results of his work can be seen on our Archives page
He has also now catalogued or accounted for every single document which was recorded as being in our archives by our first Archivist William Smith, back in 1705.
But don’t think that Robin is working himself out of a job just yet… There’s still much unlisted material in the archives, and many other things for him to do.
