Amanda Brookfield – The Split
The Split, the latest novel by Amanda Brookfield (1979, English), Univ’s Visitor in the Creative Arts 2018-19, was published on 10 August. The book follows a just-divorced couple with two almost-grown-up children, and questions whether a family can ever truly be sliced in two, and who, ultimately, wields the most power – parents or children.
Amanda’s previous books include The Other Woman, Good Girls, and For the Love of a Dog.
Whilst in post as our Visitor in the Creative Arts, Amanda organised the hugely successful Univ’s Next Novelist competition, won by Memoona Ahmed (2018, Experimental Psychology); she was also instrumental in the creation Univ in the Arts, stepping down as chair in 2022 after four hugely successful years.
