Run your own Univ Old Member event!
We are excited to launch the opportunity for you to hold your own Old Member event, in a venue and location of your choice.
You could gather local Old Members together for a flat white, meet for drinks, perhaps visit an exhibition or attend a sporting event.
Get creative and let us know what you would like to do. We will support you by sending the invitations to Old Members in your area, and listing the event on the Univ website and on LinkedIn.
The choice of venue, date, time and logistical arrangements are up to you, but we are here to support you through the process.

Event toolkit
You will be responsible for:
- Choosing a suitable venue(s) (please make sure venues are wheelchair accessible). Please note: we advise that events are held in a public space, rather than a private home.
- Proposing a date and time for the event.
- Deciding whether the invitation is for Old Members only or for Old Members and a guest. You may also like to invite current students.
- Drafting an invitation (text only), which will then be approved by the events and communications teams. You will see a final copy of the invite before it is sent to Old Members.
- Providing an image for the invitation for which we have the rights to use i.e. author’s permission. This website is useful for sourcing images.
- Attendees will be responsible for covering their own costs i.e. food, drink, travel.
- If any tickets need to be bought in advance (i.e. theatre, exhibition entrance, comedy club, etc.), please discuss how this will work with the events team.
- On the day of the event, be the main point of contact for Old Members via email and/or telephone.
- Ensure all Old Members are made welcome at the event.
- Keep a record of who attended the event and send this to the events team.
Events team will be responsible for:
- Working with you to arrange a suitable date and time for the event that doesn’t clash with other Univ events, for example.
- Checking the venue is compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Sending an email invitation to Old Members (we cannot release contact details of Old Members due to data protection).
- Advertising the event via the Univ website and LinkedIn.
- Collating the RSVPs.
- Sending you the list of Old Members (their name, matric and subject) who have registered one week before the event.
- Sending an email to the Old Members who have registered with the final details of the event – date, timings, meeting point, including your email address/mobile no. for any issues on the day.
- Sending an email to Old Members, after the event, to thank them for attending.
