Mineralogical Society Distinguished Lecturer
Congratulations to Professor Tamsin Mather, Univ Supernumerary Fellow in Earth Sciences, on her appointment as the Mineralogical Society Distinguished Lecturer for 2015–16.
Professor Tamsin Mather has been appointed alongside Dr Sam Shaw of the University of Manchester.
Professor Mather’s Lecture is entitled: “The lifecycle of caldera-forming volcanoes in the Main Ethiopian Rift: insights from Aluto volcano.”
The Distinguished Lecturer programme aims to promote interest and discussions across the broad field of Mineral Sciences (including all aspects of petrology and geochemistry at the Earth’s surface and at depth). Each year two Distinguished Lecturers are appointed by the Mineralogical Society to give lectures at universities and related institutions. The lectures are designed to appeal to undergraduates and research students as well as more advanced scientists.
