Meeting Minds Oxford 2024
Meeting Minds is a stimulating weekend of academic talks and tours organised by the University for Oxford alumni. There are a wide variety of live talks, panels and tours on offer, plus opportunities to network with fellow alumni. All sessions are in-person this year, with no live online content.

Oxford is a leading global centre for AI research, from computational sciences to robotics. We will hear from leading Oxford professors at the cutting edge of applied AI on the impact they’re having, from drug discovery to health and new materials.

“Oxford Blue Plaque Tour” (Two tours)
Oxford has been the home of many and varied interesting personalities, often commemorated in blue plaques and memorials dotted around the city. Join Alastair to hear about the lives of a founder of a great charity, an archbishop and saint, a nineteenth century muse and many others.

“From Fuming Volcanic Vents to Extinction Events”
This presentation will explore how studying volcanoes on the present-day planet can unlock new knowledge about Earth’s deep history including major environmental crises like mass extinction events.

“A Reflection on Pembroke’s 400 Years of History”
Greg Neale, editor of the College’s new history, Pembroke College, Oxford: The First 400 Years, is joined by panellists including Andrew Seton, to tell the story of how the College’s new, celebratory history came about, and reflect on what it tells us of Pembroke’s past and present.
