Univ’s 775 Giving Day Part Two

775 Giving Day Erg Challenge and balloonsWe would like to thank all those who have joined in with Univ’s first-ever Giving Day so far. We have raised a fantastic £103,592 to date from 200 donors. Please do check out our Giving Day Site and add your support to help us reach our goal of getting 250 donors to participate in Giving Day. You can also find the Challenges we are aiming for. For example, £3,500 will be unlocked when we reach 35 donors under the age of 35 and another £3,000 when we reach 250 donors. Please help us reach this!

The Giving Day was off to a flying start on Tuesday morning, with an “Erg Challenge” in a sunny Main Quad, expertly steered and coxed by members of Univ Boat Club. Baroness Amos, Master of the College, officially launched the Giving Day and under a blue and yellow balloon arch, members of the Boat Club, other Univ students and staff of the College took part in 100m and 775m sprints. Members of staff from the Domestic Bursary, Development team and Works team all had a go, as did Andrew Gregory, College Chaplain.

Meanwhile, students and staff posed for selfies with Percy, the College’s tortoise-in-residence and Scruffy the dog from the Academic Office.

Univ 775 in Main Quad human chainIn the afternoon, members of the College joined hands to form a human 775 in Main Quad and cupcakes with 775 motifs on them were handed out to all who took part. This was followed by a “Hunt the Martlet” around the College. Wooden Martlets, beautifully crafted by Chris Eaton in the Works team, were hidden around the College along with clues, and there were prizes for the winners.

The day was rounded off with another Erg Challenge.

Day two promises to be just as entertaining, with Maypole dancing in Main Quad, Haiku writing, Martlet decorating and a Wellbeing Run at the Boat House.
