Geneva, World Economic Forum
Graduate Research Fund Travel Report – David Barda, MPP
Thanks to the generous support I received from University College’s Graduate Research Training Fund I was able to travel to Geneva in July 2016 to undertake research with the World Economic Forum on multi-stakeholder governance models. Whilst in Geneva, I conducted the following interviews with individuals working on governance models in global crises:
- Dr Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
- Dr Khalid Koser, Deputy Director and Academic Dean at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Executive Director of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund
- Mr Fadi Chehadé former Chief Executive Officer of ICANN
- Mr David McLachlan-Karr, United Nations Resident Coordinator, Sierra Leone during the Ebola crisis
- Ms Terri Toyota, Head of Foundations Community and Development Finance, World Economic Forum
- Mr Jakob Quirin, Public Law Team at the World Health Organisation
- Mr Derek O’Halloran, IT Industry Partnerships Community Leader at World Economic Forum
The product of the research will be a report that is delivered to President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, and former head of the World Trade Organisation, Pascal Lamy, in their capacity as Co-Chairs of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Committee on Global Governance. The research will also contribute to my ‘Summer Project Report’ which is a requirement of my Master of Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government. I want to thank the University College for the generous support I have received from the Research Training Fund, without which my research would not have been possible.
