Year 12 Subject Study Days

Univ is delighted to host a full programme of subject study days in the Spring and Summer terms 2017. These will be an excellent way to gain an insight into potential degree subjects. These will also give high-achieving students a taste of a university study and ideas for how they can develop their academic interests and skills beyond the classroom. They will be run by Univ’s subject tutors and post-graduate students, consist of classes and lectures, and include a tour of the college and lunch with current undergraduate students.

The study days we will be running in 2017 cover a range of subjects:

• PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) - Tues 14 February.
• Maths, Physics and Engineering - Mon 20 February.
• English and History - Wed 26 April *Applications closed*
• Medical Sciences - Fri 12 May *Applications open until Friday 7 April*
• Ancient Civilisations - Thu 15 June

How to Apply

The application processes for these Study Days run separately for each subject based study day. Applications will generally open at least two months before the study day. There will be a short application form to complete including academic achievement and approval from a supporting teacher. There is no requirement to submit a personal statement.

Selection Criteria

The College may consider information such as GCSE results, school and background to choose students who will best benefit from the workshops. In case of over-subscription the College may also have to limit the number of attendees per school.

In the case of students who apply for more than one of our subject study days, depending on popularity we may only be able to offer students a place on one subject study day each. If you would like to apply to multiple but have a preference for one study day over another please make this clear as soon as possible.

English and History Study Day - Wednesday 26 April 2017

We're excited to have a whole day devoted to English and History in 2017. This study day will allow you to experience some lectures from University College tutors and gain some suggestions on how to explore these subjects as you prepare to make a University application. Check out a provisional timetable here.

Applications for the 2017 English and History day are now closed. All applicants for whom we received an online application form have been informed of the success of their application.

Medical Sciences Study Day - Friday 12 May 2017

If you're interested in studying Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry or Psychology, why not apply for this study day to get a taste of the Medical Sciences? There will be lectures as well as smaller interactive classes. Check out a provisional timetable here.

Applications for the 2017 Medical Sciences day are now open. To apply you will need to ensure we receive two forms. Firstly, the online application form - available here - to be completed by the student, by Friday 7 April.

Secondly a supporting teacher will also need to complete this teachers' approval form - available here - and submit by email: or post to: Nelli Chamings, Schools Liaison & Access Officer, University College, Oxford, OX1 4BH. Please ensure your teacher has completed this form also by Friday 7 April. We have limited capacity to chase these forms past the deadline and spaces will only be able to be given to students for whom we have received both online application and teachers' approval form.
