Thomas Thomson (Fellow 1509-14)

Thomas Thomson came, according to A. B. Emden's "Biographical Register of the University of Oxford 1501-40", from the Diocese of Durham. He was elected Fellow of University College in 1509, and became Bursar in 1513, but then died in 1514.

This is the only document about Thomson in the Archives.

Receipt from John Thomson, brother of Master Thomas Thomson, recently a Fellow of the College of the University of Oxford to Master Ralph Hamsterle, Master of the said College, and the Fellows of the same (his brother’s executors) for a legacy of 26s 8d, with one toga and two ly vackets.
            The document is in good condition, but its seal is now only fragmentary. It has now been published and translated in R. H. Darwall-Smith, Early Records of University College (OHS n.s. xlvi 2015), pp. 88–9.
