Photograph Album of Arnold Kirke Smith (matr. 1869)

Arnold Kirke Smith, the ninth son of William Smith of Ecclesfield, Yorks., Esq., matriculated from University College in October 1869 as a Commoner aged 19. He had previously attended Cheltenham College. According to his Old Members’ card from the 1920s, he captained the University’s Association Football Team in 1871 and 1872, and played football for England against Scotland in 1872. He took his BA in 1873 and his MA 1878, and later took holy orders. In 1925 he was recorded as living at Boxworth Rectory, Cambridge. His death was recorded in the "University College Record" of 1926/7.

This album was given to the College by an unknown donor in July 2007 as Accession No. 734.
